ibonekoen: (Writing (Joe - Just in Love))
So, it's been forever since I've updated this thing I call a journal, and while there hasn't really been a lot going on in my life that needs to be rehashed here for everyone to read, I thought I'd give you all a little update about that crazy writing thing I do every year: NaNoWriMo. I wasn't going to participate this year because I always spend the first week or so not writing and berating myself for not writing, then I kick myself into action around the second week and write like a maniac, only to wind up with 50,000 words of an unfinished novel that I just shove into a corner, reassuring myself that I'll dust it off again one day.

Well, not this year! This year, I'm taking a step back from worrying about original characters and publishing and all that jazz. This year, I'm writing fanfiction. I know, I know, it's not getting me any closer to my goal of being a published author, but hey, if somebody can take Twatlight fanfiction, publish it and have it shoot to number one on the charts or whatever, maybe there's hope for Avengers/MI:4 high school fic, right? Right?

Eh, if nothing else, it'll be fun to write, and that's ultimately the goal of NaNoWriMo.

What's that? You want to know the plot of my novel? Oh! Well, I'm glad that you asked.
Take a venture behind the cut to find out, my pretties... )

Drat! I didn't make any posts in October, so I missed the chances to use my Halloween sigtags and blinkies, sob.

Oh well. I'm gonna use them now anyway. Ahahaha

So, I'm attempting to update this more, even though I really feel like nobody's reading and it doesn't matter anyway... Whatever, I've got some new followers thanks to a couple of friending memes on [livejournal.com profile] slushieverse's social comm. Also possibly a friending meme in [livejournal.com profile] avengers_land. FFFFFFF, I don't remember! Gaaaaaaah.

Anyway, wherever you came from, welcome!

Apparently, I'm on a Renner kick (as in Jeremy Renner of The Avengers fame), and two of the three fics I'm actively working on at the moment feature his characters. One is an AU rpverse where Clint Barton is a Marine and married to Stephanie Rogers (who is a female!Steve Rogers, DON'T JUDGE ME, BRO.). It's loosely based on The Hurt Locker and it's all [livejournal.com profile] captain_elessar's fault (mostly because she's my Clint ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it was her idea to start with). The other is an Unusuals fic. WHERE WAS I IN 2009 WHEN THIS SHOW WAS ON THE AIR? HOW DID IT NOT FALL ONTO MY RADAR? OMG, RENNER, I COULD'VE KNOWN ABOUT YOU SOONER! ALL THOSE WASTED YEARS I COULD'VE BEEN STANNING YOU.

I mean. Uh. Yay, obscure fandom! \o/

IDK, would anybody reading this be interested in the fic? I might've created an ex-wife for Walsh, and the story is about how they ended up getting a divorce. I can't totally blame that one on [livejournal.com profile] captain_elessar (that's Renner's fault for being so goddamn gorgeous and awesome and totally badass that Megan sprang to life after one episode. YES, I AM THAT GIRL /paranoia over being accused of a self insert OC), though she has encouraged me to pursue this character idea.

Just in case you don't already know, you can follow me on Twitter, Tumblr and oh, look, AO3

That Altima is sounding better and better... I love driving it and I wants one. Mom and I may be going car shopping this week, if I have my car back.

If you follow [livejournal.com profile] didnttakestars, I apologize for the flood of entries I posted this morning. I had a few stories that I hadn't posted there, ha. I've got a few snippets, with accompanying pictures, that I need to cross-post from Tumblr too.

:D

Just in case you're interested, you can follow me on Tumblr at didnttakestars, and I have a Twitter account, ibonekoen.

Should I cross-post all my graphics and drabbles and things from my tumblr to here? Would anybody be interested in that? Or maybe I should just put the drabbles in my fic journal, [livejournal.com profile] didnttakestars.

Thoughts? Comments? How's it going? I know I don't post often, oops.
ibonekoen: (Uuuuuummmmmm [Darren])
Why the fuck would somebody choose an image host that has a million popups and extra crap on the page when you try to view a photo? Are tinypic and imgur only available in the US or something?

Nothing annoys me more than clicking on a thumbnail to view the full size and getting bombarded with popup videos and bullshit advertisements. :|

In other news, I really need to get my act together and start working on my Blaine big bang fic for [livejournal.com profile] beyond_dapper. The rough draft is due...in August? Soonish.

Cut to save your friends page! )

Eventually, I will write about my trip to California and the awesome time I had with [livejournal.com profile] captain_elessar (that's the first time I've ever typed her username right on the first try \o/). Oh, and The Avengers, unf. Joss Whedon is amazing.
ibonekoen: (Caroline pretty)
Hmm, so I made a pact with myself to start updating this journal more since it was pretty lively in October and November, what with the 30 Day Original Character Development challenge and NaNoWriMo updates. Yet, here it is, December 13 and I've only posted two entries, one of which was a Christmas present.

I posted a link to a Holiday Love Meme! Go, leave me anonymous bits of love! The only problem with that is I want to know who's leaving said little bits of love, but whatever. That defeats the point of the meme. XD

Leave me your link in the comments and I'll leave you some love too.

Holiday cards! I haven't sent them out yet (that procrastination thing is rearing its ugly head, sorry >.>), so if you want to get in on the fun, just drop me a comment here!

What else, what else? I'm still writing on Bright City Bites. It's not finished yet. I have a bunch to type up, actually. Still looking for beta readers. I'm not even sure where to start looking, really. Fellow writers, is there some kind of site? I guess I could just google it.

I'm thinking about maybe writing entries as my original characters. *strokes chin* Too weird? I know of at least a couple of people who enjoyed Joseph and Zander responding to the various challenge subjects. Would you guys be adverse to reading entries from them and other characters lurking in my head? I could get prompts from various writing comms around LJ. I've got some friended. Discuss!

Granted, that does not include my fandom rp characters. Though I may start writing journal entries for them in their own journals just because, you know, it'd be a fun way to get into their headspace.
ibonekoen: (Ugh...)
My writing sucks. :| Too many repetitive actions. Everybody nods and smiles. It's all telling the action and plot and not enough showing. Detached and clinical are words that are coming to mind to describe my writing style...or lack thereof, more accurately.

I know, I know, that's what revisions are for, but if I can't even come up with something more than "he nodded and snorted" the first time around, what makes me think I can do better the second?
ibonekoen: (Darren OMG clutching my pearls)
This update has been weeks in the making, mostly because I just haven't felt like writing up the entry. Please note that I did not take any of these photos. I just got copies from my friend and co-worker, Dee Hamilton. She doesn't have an LJ so I can't link to her profile.

So, what's a Grape Stomp, you ask? It's exactly what it sounds like, my friends: you stomp grapes. Dee, another co-worker Ann, Ann's sister Chris and I all went to Henscratch Farms, a local winery in Lake Placid, Florida. They have this annual Grape Stomp festival where you get to browse around the winery. You can pick grapes (scuppernongs and muscadines), there's live music and they have all kinds of food. They even have wine tastings. The main event is getting to stomp the grapes, I Love Lucy style. Yes, they have a giant tub filled with grapes, and you just climb into the tub with your bare feet and stomp, stomp, stomp. Then they take the grapes and make wine from it and sell it. They even take your picture and slap it on a label for the bottle.

Now, I've never been a huge wine drinker. I did try icewine when I was visiting Canada a few years ago and loved it, but most wine just tastes gross to me. But we sampled some wines and they were really, really good. I was surprised. I may go back and order some wines, I don't know.

Anyway, pictures, right?

Remember, these weren't taken by me )

I was going to make a pretty little graphic to go along with this entry, but I ended up hating everything about it so I closed it without even saving it. >_________<

So, [livejournal.com profile] captain_elessar and I have been slowly making our way through James McAvoy's filmography, and by slowly, I mean, we've watched a total of three movies so far, LOL. She saw X-Men: First Class first, and then I did, and hnnnnnnnnng, James and Michael Fassbender. I mean, I knew who James McAvoy was before, of course -- he played Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and I remember [livejournal.com profile] babytoaster talking about Atonement and...I want to say Wanted? IDK, and I also do not know why I've taken so long to see Wanted because hnnnnnnnnng. If you haven't seen this movie, and you like comic book movies, you really, really should because it is epic lulz and epic hotness and I even liked Angelina Jolie in it. O__________o

Also saw Atonement and bawled my eyes out, omg. It was so, so, soooo good, epic storyline, but omg, so heartbreaking. I've got a plot bunny for a modern-day companion piece to the movie, and I'm thinking about reading the book. I think I have some fees to settle up on at my local library. Whoops.

I'm still working on my original novels, which isn't really saying much because I've been working on them for ages. I keep starting and stopping ideas, and I have nobody to blame but myself. I keep letting myself get distracted.

Work is work. I still have a job though I'm barely scrapping by. If I didn't live with my mom, I wouldn't be able to afford a place at all, so thank god for small blessings. There is, of course, a lot of tension in the house between my stepfather and me, and I try to keep my mouth shut about things, but it's so hard when you want to take your fist and ram it through his face.

Whatever. Putting on my happy face! :D!

I gained some new friends thanks to the friending meme on [livejournal.com profile] mcfassy. *waves to my new friends!* If any of you have AIM and want to chat, just send me a PM and I'll be happy to give you my AIM sn. :D

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, I guess that's about it? Oh! Well, I won a Mod's Choice award at the last round of [livejournal.com profile] teenshows20in20! That was pretty exciting. Most days I feel like my graphics are shit, which is sad considering I'm a graphic designer by day. I should do more fandom stuff.

Oh, I do have a Tumblr. I mostly use it to reblog stuff, but you're welcome to follow it if you want: Didnttakestars@Tumblr

Okay, okay, I just tried the graphic again, and I like it better. Click on the thumbnail to view it full-size. :D

Comment with "Piece was never an option, Charles."
- I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
- Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
- Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions.

Questions! )
ibonekoen: (OMG wut?)
I was looking at the date I created my journal versus how many entries I have, and apparently I've had this journal for almost nine years yet I only have 544 entries. Pretty sad, huh? I guess my life is just too boring to update about on a daily basis.

I guess most of what I start to write turns out emo in my head, and who the fuck wants to read that, right? Besides, there are much worse things going on in the world than my petty shit.

Work is pretty boring and normal. Frustrating as hell, but whatever, what can you do, right? It's a job, yay. :)

Writing is going okay. I'm a little frustrated with my writing group. I saw a post in a writing comm about a small group forming where the people would post stuff they'd written and ask for critiques. There was a limited number of people who could join, and membership was closed after 29 or 30. Not so bad, right? It was agreed that everybody would get a certain day to post on, and a list was posted.

Well, I forgot for a couple of weeks to post on my day, which is my own fault, but I've been really good about reading other people's stuff and giving my thoughts, copy editing, and all that jazz. I finally remembered to post this week on my day, Friday. It's now Tuesday, and my post still has no comments, and nobody else has posted. I'm trying not to get too paranoid/frustrated, whatever. As [livejournal.com profile] likesthesilence pointed out, they could all be on Spring Break or just be busy or something. IDK. I'm just like some feedback on this story I'm writing. It's a vampire novella, untitled at the moment, that I'd really like to get published. E-harlequin is taking submissions, and I think it would be perfect for that. Of course, it's not finished yet, but I'm working on it pretty regularly.

So, after a lot of poking, prodding and puppy dog eyes, [livejournal.com profile] likesthesilence convinced me to watch Glee. The singing is okay. The only characters I care about anymore are Kurt, Blaine, Brittany and Santana. Everyone else is kinda "eh."

Blah. IDK.
ibonekoen: (Nick Jonas flip)
Watch this space for an angry rant that I need to get off my chest!

In the meantime, congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] jenkinsjf! Her e-book "The Legend of the Oceina Dragon" hits the e-shelves today! You can get your copy from Astraea Press or enter her awesome contest to win a free copy!

It sounds like a pretty exciting read!

Stay tuned for more ragey goodness!

ibonekoen: (hmm)
It's been way too long since I've posted an entry in this thing. I've never been very good at keeping a diary; my daily life is so boring, I don't think anybody would want to hear about it. I get up, I go to work, I come home, I eat dinner, I putz around online, playing Facebook and tagging in my rp threads, and then I go to bed to start it all over again. Sometimes I write. I'm still plunking away at my novels, and I've been filling the time with writing fanfic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm thinking about trying to get published and still writing fanfic. I'm sure that isn't a good idea, but...I can't seem to drop the fanfic, so...I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it.

Still hopelessly in love with the Jonas Brothers. Sad that Heroes was canceled. :( I went to see Tron: Legacy a few weeks ago, omg, so good. It was a treat to watch, and I finally got around to rewatching the origianl Tron. It wasn't as boring as I remember as a child.

Shit's getting deep, guys. Put your wading boots on )
ibonekoen: (Nick beanie looking down)

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it. :)
