My writing sucks. :| Too many repetitive actions. Everybody nods and smiles. It's all telling the action and plot and not enough showing. Detached and clinical are words that are coming to mind to describe my writing style...or lack thereof, more accurately.

I know, I know, that's what revisions are for, but if I can't even come up with something more than "he nodded and snorted" the first time around, what makes me think I can do better the second?

I encounter the same issues...but, at least during NaNo the point is to get the words down...no matter how much editing they need. I usually find the words and phrasings I want when I go back and rewrite/edit the scenes, which is not 'allowed' this month. So get the thoughts down and worry about that later...or try to (I'm feeling the same way about some of my scenes, which I want to be darker and more ominous. Right now, I'm not feeling them, but when I can go back and edit it should take a better shape)

Yeah, I keep telling myself not to worry because I can go back and edit, but I dunno. It isn't helping. :/

Your writing does NOT suck. And I swear to God, I spend every other moment mentally berating myself for the same thing. SHOW, NOT TELL, too much exposition, too much HE SAID, HE DID, etc. But at the end of the day you should know (I should more often remember) that pretty much every writer struggles with that.

I guess I need to stop comparing myself to others? Because I read fabulous works by some of my favorite authors (yours included) and I have all these emotions and feelings just from reading them, and I don't get that with my own writing. I don't feel like it's there.

You're right. Every writer does struggle with it. I just don't know how to get over it, I guess? X(

I find myself falling into that same trap a lot. But, like you and everyone else has said, that's what editing is for. Once Nano is over with you'll have time to think of something better to say and if you can't think of anything better to say, well that's what a thesaurus and beta readers are for :)

I'm not really going back and reading it, it's more reading it as I'm writing it. I guess my problem is that even with all the fics and stuff that I've written and posted, I've never really gone back and revised stuff, I just go with what I write. So it all sucks, but I feel like I should be able to word vomit perfection? I don't know.

Logically, I know exactly what you're saying, and I know what you mean, but I'm Negative Nancy or something. X( I dunno. Ignore this. I should be happier than this today.

Although I'm just kind of dabbling into writing still, I can completely relate to that feeling. I'm trying to focus on just getting the words out first and worrying about quality later. Its easier said than done though, I know. Don't get discouraged. Hang in there!
