ibonekoen: (NaNoWriMo 2011)

NaNoWriMo starts (for me) in a little over twelve hours (midnight November 1), and I've been posting entries for the last few weeks that have helped me flesh out my characters a little more. Plot's still a little vague but at least I have a theme now.

I also have a tentative cover and synopsis, which I'll place below the cut.

I'll probably just be posting word counts. In the past, I've posted chapters as I've written them in friends-locked posts in [livejournal.com profile] didnttakestars, but I think I'm going to hold off on that until I get this finished.

Everyone has a story. Some of them are exciting, some are pretty average, some are more than a little boring and some take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride.

This story? Is all of those rolled up into one. This is the story of two housemates, one human and one vampire. They lead a fairly normal life. Zander Bancroft, the human, goes to work, comes home, fixes a meal, vegs out on the couch, exactly what you'd expect a twenty-something to do.

Joseph has his little routine as well: feed, sleep, try to pass for human. Above all else, never take a human life.

Then there are the ghosts. They're everywhere, always watching, always waiting to speak with Zander, to get a message to their loved ones or, in the case of a murdered victim, the police. Zander's father called him a ghostwalker, one foot in each world.

Living near the Land of the Mouse (aka Walt Disney World) isn't easy, talking to ghosts the rest of the world can't see, but Zander copes.

Then matters are complicated by the sudden arrival of Joseph's long-hated maker, Alessandro. He's come to stir up some mischief, and he isn't leaving until he's had his fun.

I was expecting the story to be set in New York city... but it's set near Walt Disney World?!? That makes my inner Disney Geek happy!
