My Kindle Fire has just been shipped. \o/

I've kinda been leery of eReaders and eBooks just because I'm old school and love the feel of a paperback book in hand. Then I decided that I like technology a lot too and love having gadgets, so I got online and looked at reviews of the Kindle Fire versus the Nook Tablet. Obviously, I'd rather have an iPad because I'm a Machead, but I'm choking a little on the price tag.

So, I'm getting a Kindle Fire. Which it's not really a comparison to the iPad because they're really in two different categories, they do share some features. I'm looking forward to my Fire though, woo! And it'll be here tomorrow! Yes, I'm impatient and had it shipped to me overnight.

Congratulations! I'm going to get a Kindle as soon as I have some time off from work, so once I do we should trade accounts or whatever it is you do so you can borrow stuff from other Kindle users.

Ooooh cool. Yes, please! I haven't quite figured out how to share stuff between Kindle users. The only thing I've found is borrowing from Amazon's library, but you can only do that as a Prime member.

I'm not sure how it works either but I'm hopefully going to go buy it tomorrow (wednesday) so once I have it set up I'll let you know!

Oh, and I totally agree with the person who's raving about The Hunger Games. It's an amazing trilogy and I am totally psyched for the movie!!

Yay! I got a regular Kindle on my anniversary, about two weeks before they announced the fire. ;___;

Oh wow, talk about bad timing. How do you like the regular Kindle though? It uses that eInk technology, right? The Kindle Fire is backlit, and I noticed my eyes start to hurt a little if I play with it for too long.

I like science fiction, fantasy. I have been known to read the occasional romance novel, mostly historical stuff, especially Regency era stuff. Um, anything pertaining to King Arthur. Vampires. Although not Twilight. I've heard too many bad things.

Two of my all-time favorite books are The Great Gatsby and The Eight by Katherine Neville.

Yeah, the eink technology is one of the main reasons I wanted one instead of a Nook. Having a backlight would be cool for reading at night, but all my portable video game systems are backlit and it's a PAIN to use them during the day and impossible to take them outside.

I mostly read teen fiction and serial killer fiction, but seriously pop over to that community and you will get oodles of books for free.

Eh, I don't really go out that much, so not being able to read outside isn't really an issue, LOL. I'm totally curious about that eink technology, but I wanted all the bells and whistles too, the ability to watch movies and stuff. That's neat.

I do read some teen fiction. I'm working my way through the Vampire Diaries series, so feel free to rec me something along those lines! I've got the first book of the Hunger Games series on deck for when I finish The Fury.

I put in my membership request. Ooooh, free books! Sweet! I really want to get back into reading more. I've been slacking off horribly the last few years, and how can I be a good writer if Idon't read much, you know?

Yeah, I honestly don't leave my house very much but the times I do (doctor's appointments, going somewhere with Joe, long car rides, etc) I always have a book! And I have an ipod if I really want to watch movies, though the only place I do that is the gym. Someday (I HOPE) I'll be getting a *real* job again as well, and I always spend my lunch break with a book.

I started reading TVD series after watching the show but it was awful to me. I read the first one and just put it aside forever. ;__; But the Hunger Games is absolutely amazing!

I believe you have to post a book of your own within five days, but any book you have in basically any format will be fine. I use Goodreads to find books to read and keep up with my stuff. I feel the same way about reading and writing!

Yeah, an iPod is next on my list. Although I guess I don't really need one since the Kindle Fire takes care of all the stuff I wanted the iPod for. Whoops. XD So much for brand loyalty >_> LOL

Eh, TVD books aren't the world's greatest by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm reading it mostly out of curiosity to see what changed for the show. So far, I'm liking the show better, as much as Elena and Stefan make me want to vomit. X( I've heard a lot of good things about the Hunger Games.

Oh. Hmm, I guess I have to figure out how to get the books off the Fire then, and hopefully the books I have haven't already been posted.

Aw, I love my ipod. Mostly because it is small enough to put in my pocket. I am not sure I could listen to music on the Fire. Movies, sure, but my sister has one and it just seems less...portable for me. I put my ipod in the car most of the time. (Because I cannot remember the last time I went to the gym)

I'm weirdly picky about my teen fic, which is saying something because...it is meant for thirteen-year-olds. I thought book!Elena was a super bitch, so eh. My biggest problem with TVD is that I have seen basically every single plot done to death either on Angel or Being Human, which were way better vampire shows to me.

The Hunger Games was just phenomenal. Couldn't put any of them down.

You can just download them. Type any book into google and add ".pdf" on the end and there you go! They do allow duplicates, too.

Yeah, that's true. I have an iPod NaNo right now, second generation, and I want to upgrade to an iPod Touch. I...haven't really tried to listen to music on the Fire, actually. I downloaded the Pandora app but haven't used it yet, lol.

Mmm, I agree, book!Elena is a super bitch. I haven't seen Being Human, although I've had it recced to me by a couple of friends. Well, the UK version, anyway. Haven't heard much about the US version, but honestly, why does the US think it needs to revamp British series? X(
