Zander would never willingly post a picture of him as a child, but luckily, I have a few in my possession.
He also probably wouldn't want to talk about his sister, Zora, but I feel it's important to mention her. He's already spoken a little about his parents, so it's only fair that you know a little about Zora too, right?
First, I'd like to say that I find it strange that parents with such normal-sounding names (Jonah and Karen) could come up with such off-the-wall names like Zander and Zora.
Oh. Oh, ahaha, oh my god, I just googled Zander to see what it means, and it's a species of fish. Oh my god, hahahahaha.
Ew, oh my god, they bake it whole in Hungary and serve it that way, with the head and everything. Oh, god, that's so disgusting. Thank you, Wikipedia, for that very colorful picture. Good grief.
Yes, I'm kinda squeamish.
Ahaha, so, um, yes, I was looking up the meaning of Zander, wasn't it? Oh, here we go, it's of Slavic and Greek origin and means "man's defender." Huh, who knew?
Apparently, Zora is also of Slavic origin and means "dawn" or "sunrise." I suppose that's fairly accurate. If ever the sun were to be personified in a human, it would've been Zora.
So, I met the twins when they were twelve, and it's not as skeevy as it sounds, I promise. I'm not a pedophile and I make it a point never to eat from children. I am ashamed to admit there were...instances when I was much younger. A baby or two might've been eaten, but that was many years ago and I've long since weened myself off that, as well as the blood of a virgin. Succulent, let me tell you, there's nothing quite like the warm, fresh t-
Ahem.
Yes. I was telling you about Zora and the first time I met the twins, right? They were twelve, prococious little children with a knack for getting into trouble. From what I understand, Zander's ability was just beginning to really manifest itself around that time. Whether or not Zora had the same ability, he's never said and I've never asked.
I met them on a side street, actually, near the university. Zander's father was a professor of Anthropology at the university, and the family had housing within walking distance. What place is more perfect for a vampire to make his feeding ground than a college campus teeming with drunken co-eds?
As you can imagine, the twins found themselves in a very precarious predicament. Namely, they found themselves about to be dinner for a fanged fiend when who should appear, swooping in to their rescue? Yours truly, of course.
Okay, so maybe I didn't swoop in, per se, but I definitely didn't blunder onto the scene by accident. Pfft. Needless to say, I risked life and limb (okay, fine, just limb) to save them from being eaten and a friendship was formed.
Unfortunately for all, Zora and her parents were tragically murdered six months later as a consequence for me getting too close to humans. I took Zander in because he had nowhere to go, and I felt that I owed him.
It's amazing to me that he can be friends with me despite what happened to his family. I consider myself to be very lucky, though I'm sure that would probably change if he knew exactly who killed them and how it relates to me.
I pray he never finds out.
