Torchwood // Ianto/Jack // in the TARDIS (Children of Earth SPOILERS)

Okay, so that took me longer than expected, heh. Better late than never though, right? :D

Jack knows that he shouldn't be here, that it violates all kinds of time travel laws and whatnot, but he can't help it. He'd ran into the Doctor in one seedy bar or another across the galaxy and had told him the whole story of what had happened to Torchwood, everything about the incident with the alien race known only as 456. He'd broken down when he'd told the Doctor of Ianto's death, and then he'd begged the Doctor to take him back, to give him one last goodbye with his beloved.

Jack had expected the Doctor to refuse, to brush him off, but then, the next thing he knows, the TARDIS is standing in Millennium Centre. HE gives the Doctor a questioning look, arching an eyebrow.

The Doctor merely shrugs. "Well, I needed to stop off to refuel the TARDIS anyway." He gives Jack an encouraging smile, hands slipping into the pockets of his blue pinstriped suit. Jack gives him a grateful smile in return and then heads over to the door, pulling it open and stepping out into the plass.

His chest gets a little tight as he takes in the sight of the Millennium Center, the water tower that juts straight up from the fountain. He never thought he'd see this place again, having vowed never to return to Earth after Ianto's death, and yet, it feels as though he never left. He takes a step forward toward the hidden lift access to the Hub, and he stops abruptly as a familiar, tawny-haired young man slowly rises from the pavement. "Ianto," Jack whispers, his tone hushed and reverent.

The young man looks a bit confused as he catches sight of his lover and boss, and he frowns as he moves over to Jack. "I thought you were still down in the Hub," Ianto asks warily. Then he glances to his left and sees the familiar blue police box, and it clicks into place. "Ah."

Jack shakes his head quickly and then grabs Ianto's hand and pulls him into the TARDIS, knowing that the hidden Torchwood cameras are recording their every movement. He'd rather have this moment in private, away from the eyes of the other team members. He's not entirely sure what point in the timeline the Doctor brought him to, but he supposes it doesn't matter. The whole reason for him being here at all is dragged helplessly into the TARDIS, the confusion growing on his face.

"Ianto," Jack manages to croak before he's pulling the young human to him and crushing his lips against Ianto's in a frantic kiss that leaves the coffee boy breathless and stunned, feeling even more confused.

"Jack...you're acting as if you haven't seen me in ages," Ianto says cautiously. He frowns a bit at the tears he sees in Jack's eyes, and he swallows heavily.

"Please don't ask me to explain," Jack says with a shake of his head. He reaches out to cup Ianto's face in his hands. "Just...know that I love you. No matter what happens, even if I don't ever say it to you again, I want you to know how much I care."

Ianto is stunned, his mouth dropping open, because Jack has never, ever uttered those words. Ianto may be abashed, but he's coherent enough to know that this is something big. There's really only one response he can give, and he tenderly cups Jack's face in his hands, kissing him deeply.
