Aidan hates camels. They smell bad, they spit and he always seems to end up with the unruliest ones. The stench is probably his number one reason for hating them though. He understands that they're better adapted for the desert life than horses; camels can survive longer without water than a horse, which means the caravan has to carry less supplies, but Aidan still prefers a horse.

"Horses are faster," he complains as they wind their way through the desert, headed toward the Great Pyramids. The sun is beating down on them already, and it's not even mid-morning. "We'd reach the tomb a lot quicker if we had horses."

KJ throws him a disapproving glare, and he's still in awe at how easy she makes riding a camel look. She's wearing the traditional dress of an Egyptian woman, her face and head covered by a veil, in an attempt to stay cool. Aidan's certain that he's never seen her look quite so exotic and mysterious. Maybe it's because he knows what's hidden beneath those layers of fabric, but he's so incredibly attracted to her right now.

"We'd have to carry twice as many supplies to keep the horses healthy," she points out, a no-nonsense tonal quality to her voice, "which would put more weight and strain on the pack mules, thereby slowing us down. We'd reach the tombs in precisely the same amount of time it will take us with the camels."

Aidan knows that she has a point, but it doesn't stop his grumbling, especially after they stop for a water break and his camel spits on him while he's trying to give the damned beast some water.

Yay me.

Hmm, I requested this at boyfriends_fic a while ago and no one wrote it, so let's see if you want to write it:

AU - Joe and Nick are camp counselors. Maybe they grew up going to the camp when they were little and Joe started being a counselor when he was old enough and now that Nick's old enough, its his first summer as a counselor too. Maybe the other counselors try to haze him a little and Joe has to stand up for him. Maybe Joe's the one who gets in a few pranks. Maybe they go for walks after they do cabin checks and go down by the lake or into the forest to heavily grope and make out. Maybe they have sex. Tons of possibilities really :P

boyfriends_fic is notorious for unfilled prompts. :| I think I can work with that though. ;)

Out of the four seasons, Joe loves summer the best because it means a three-month long break in school, which means no more homework, no more teachers constantly telling him to "Pay attention, Joseph" or "Sit down, Joseph. The classroom is not the place for your antics" or any of the other myriad of reasons his teachers yell at him on any given day. Summer also means that, at least for six weeks, Joe is out from under the controlling thumb of his father.

For as long as Joe can remember, his brothers, Kevin and Nick, and he have spent the first part of the summer at Camp Wikitannaohana on a lake in upstate New York. For the past two years, the eighteen year old has been a junior camp counselor as well, and he's been loving every minute of it. He's especially eager about this year because it's the first year that sixteen year old Nick is old enough to be a junior counselor too.

"It's gonna be great, Nicky," Joe says as he casually slings an arm around his younger brother's shoulders. "You're gonna love being a counselor."

What Joe fails to mention (because he doesn't want to scare Nick off the idea of being a counselor) is the hazing that he'll have to endure from the other counselors. It's something that every new counselor goes through, even Joe, and he's actually looking forward to pranking his little brother.

They let Nick have the first night to settle in and adjust to camp before the pranks start. They're harmless, typical kid stuff -- Joe places Nick's hand in a bowl of warm water while he's sleeping, the old shaving cream in the hand trick. A couple of the older counselors even sneak into the cabin while Nick is teaching a class and carry all his stuff out, putting it all on the roof, even his bed. Joe feels a little bad about that one, and he ends up helping Nick get his stuff down.

Joe helps Nick check the cabins after lights out has been called, making sure that all the younger campers are in bed, and afterwards, they go down for a walk along the lake shore. Being a counselor has certain privileges, such as getting to stay up a bit after lights out. Joe likes the night walks with Nick; the whole camp is quiet, the only sounds they hear are those of animals and the wind rustling the trees and the grass. It's almost romantic, and Joe finds himself reaching for Nick's hand more than once, lacing their fingers together.

Something's been brewing between them for a while now, percolating just beneath the surface. They both know it's there but neither has had the courage to bring it up. Joe's always been overly affectionate, but with Nick, he's much more tender, much more deliberate with his hugs and kisses to the cheek. Nick doesn't let anybody but Joe crowd his personal space, and he only truly smiles when Joe's around. More than once, Joe has caught himself staring awestruck at his little brother. He'd even been caught by one of the older counselors, who'd thankfully mistaken the object of Joe's smitten gaze as one of the female counselors.

He'd seen the glower on Nick's face as David -- the older counselor -- ragged on him about crushing on Mandy. Once they're alone and on their nightly walk, Joe is quick to take Nick's hand in his, squeezing it tightly.

"You know I wasn't really staring googly-eyed at Mandy, right?" he asks, a pleading tone in his voice.

Nick's been quiet all evening, and Joe is afraid that his brother is really mad at him. He's starting to get antsy when Nick finally nods a little and quietly says, "I know."

The tension in Joe's body leaves him in a rush, and his shoulders visibly sag as he laughs. "Oh, thank god," he says. He's so happy that he surges forward without thinking, touching his lips to Nick's in an innocent kiss.

They both freeze, lips smooshed together and Nick's eyes wide. He doesn't pull away though, and his eyes actually flutter closed. Joe takes that as a good sign, and deepens the kiss, brushing his lips over Nick's. Nick shivers and sighs against Joe's mouth, and Joe settles his arms around Nick's waist, pulling him closer.

That one kiss starts a new nightly tradition, and they sneak away after cabin checks to make out by the lake, sprawled out on the sand. Joe gets braver with each kissing session, and it isn't long before he's groping Nick, stroking him through his pants and making Nick come. He likes the way that Nick's mouth parts, his breathing going ragged, as his orgasm creeps up on him, and he likes when Nick shudders and groans softly, his name on Joe's lips.

"Love you, Nicky," Joe mutters in Nick's ear as Nick lets him rut against his thigh, and Nick smiles as he strokes his fingers through Joe's hair.

"Love you too, Joey," Nick whispers, shivering as Joe's breath catches, his whole body shivering as he comes.

"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!"

Twelve year old Mary Stetson's excited yell precedes her down the stairs, and Lee arches an eyebrow, trying to fathom what could possibly evoke such a reaction from his daughter. Sure, he's just gotten home from a three day "business trip" overseas, but Mary's never screamed her greeting from the second floor landing.

She practically flies down the stairs, and the next thing Lee knows, he's got his arms full of a gangly pre-teen. In her excitement, Mary had leapt off the bottom step and pounced on her dad. Lee's never been so thankful that his daughter is skinny, though his back certainly twinges.

"Hello to you too, Mary," he says as he sets her down and gingerly extracts himself from her vise-like hug. "This isn't just because you're happy to see me, is it?"

Mary's cheeks are flushed, and she's panting a little from the exertion of running all the way from her bedroom. She's got a brochure of some sort clutched in one hand, and Lee tilts his head to the side as he reads the title. "Camp Lohikan," he reads aloud. "A new summer camp? What's wrong with "

Mary nods excitedly and pushes her hair back away from her face. She's chopped it into a medium-length bob for the summer, much to Amanda's dismay, and it's just long enough that she can secure it with an elastic band to keep it out of her face if she wants. "Yep, and the best part is that they have Spy Camp!" She turns the brochure so that Lee can see the cover and the words "SPY CAMP!" splashed across the lower half in bright yellow font.

"It's so cool!" Mary says. "They train you in martial arts, code breaking, surveillance techniques and undercover maneuvers and how to drive an ATV, and they teach you how to run a jet ski, and you get to rescue a hostage and there's a helicopter rappel jump and PAINTBALL! Dad, they train you for combat! How cool is that? Plus they teach you survival training and you get a code name and you get to break secret codes and interrogate people and it's- Can I go?"

Lee's eyes have gotten progressively wider as he's listened to Mary's enthusiastic description of the camp activities, and he eyes Amanda cautiously. They've been so careful not to reveal the true nature of their double lives to their daughter, keeping her in the dark for her safety, and it's almost ironic that she's stumbled across this camp. "Wow, Mary, that sounds like some pretty dangerous stuff," he says. "What about sports camp? I thought you had fun with that."

"Well, yeah, duh, Dad, but I wanna be a spy too!" Mary says. "It would be soooo cool, and all the other kids would be so jealous. Besides, it's not that dangerous, Dad." She rolls her eyes a little, sighing. "You're such a worrywart. There's, like, certified instructors and stuff. It's not like we're out there unsupervised."

Lee can't really argue with that, but he's reluctant to encourage his daughter to pursue spy stuff, even if it's just for fun. He knows the day is going to come when Amanda and he decide to come clean about their work for The Agency, and he doesn't want Mary to get any ideas about joining the ranks. He'd like to keep his little girl away from that lifestyle as much as possible.

He can't bear to tell her no though, especially not when she's giving him those King-Stetson pouty eyes, and he softens a bit. "Tell you what, Mary, let me hang onto this," he says, reaching for the brochure. "We've still got plenty of time before the end of summer. Your mom and I will talk about it and let you know."

The thought that Lee might end up say no doesn't even occur to Mary as she squeals and flings her arms around her dad's waist, giving him an enthusiastic hug. "Yay! Thanks, Dad! I'm gonna go tell Piper!"

"Now, wait, I didn't-" Lee cuts off with an exasperated sigh and a shake of his head as Mary goes flying out the back door. "That kid..."

Jeremiah Clark isn't a frequent visitor to the Desert Rose -- they have some clients who come in daily -- but he's been in there enough that most of the seasoned girls know he's there for Madam Lenora and Madam Lenora only. He's never shown an interest in any of the other girls, and he's been coming to the saloon for so long, nobody can really remember how Lenora got to be his favorite.

"It's like he was drawn to her," Jo Beth likes to say to the newer girls. It's almost inevitable when Jeremiah comes in and there's a new girl working at the saloon. She tries to catch his attention and flirt with him, but Jo Beth is always quick to tell the girl he's off-limits and how Jeremiah and Lenora met: he walked into the saloon, his coat and hat dusty from the trail, and Lenora, why, she was standing beside the bar, looking a vision in her low-cut deep burgundy-colored dress. Jeremiah was so enamored by the sight of her that he walked right over to her and laid a kiss on her.

"And they've been dancing around a courtship ever since," Jo Beth says to Claudine, the newest dancing girl. "Miss Lenora, she won't leave the Desert Rose, and Jeremiah's a drifter. He don't like settling down too much, but you can bet your bottom dollar he'll be in here every couple of weeks to see Miss Lenora, and he always asks for her."

Claudine's eyes are wide, a look of awe on her face. "That's so romantic!" she exclaims, and she winces as Jo Beth shushes her and scowls. "Sorry... Do you think she loves him?"

Jo Beth's eyes twinkle a bit as she nods. "Oh, absolutely!" she says, her voice just a touch above a whisper. Her eyes flick toward a table a few feet away, where Jeremiah is seated, sipping at some whiskey. "You can see it in her eyes. Her whole face lights up when she sees him." She gasps a bit, lightly smacking Claudine's arm with the folded up fan she's holding in her hand. "Look! Here she comes now!"

Claudine turns her gaze toward the staircase, and both young women watch the madam of the saloon slowly descend. Her eyes scan the crowd and settle almost immediately on Jeremiah, and her face does brighten considerably. The girls watch her as she walks over to the table, and Jeremiah lifts his head, a smile playing across his face. He stands up and pushes his chair under the table before offering Lenora his arm. She smiles and loops her arm around his, whispering something in his ear that makes him laugh, a deep rumble from somewhere low in his chest, and Claudine sighs wistfully as they walk, arm in arm, toward the staircase.

"Think I'll ever find love here?" she asks, glancing at Jo Beth, who shrugs.

"Maybe," she says. "Never know what's gonna blow through those doors. Ain't no man like Jeremiah Clark though. Trust me, we've all been looking." She smiles and gives Claudine an encouraging pat on the back. "You're gonna fit in nicely around here, Claudine. Just remember -- Jeremiah's off-limits. You don't wanna see Miss Lenora when she's angry."

Much much approval for this.

Yay! That is, of course, not how Lenora and Jeremiah actually met, but you know, Jo Beth likes to embellish. XD Their actual first meeting was probably a lot more ordinary and possibly awkward depending on Jeremiah's attitude when he came into the saloon. XDDD

Klaine Epic Kiss!

It took a while to grow on me! ;)

The whole show took a lot to grow on me. I'm not so wild about most of it, but those two make me so happy. Stereotypical portrayal of a gay teen or not, I love Kurt and seeing him so happy in the last episode, guh. :D

Kurt doesn't think it's possible to top the moment that Blaine and he shared their first kiss. He's spent every day since it happened reliving that moment, that feeling he'd felt when Blaine's lips had touched his. It was all that he'd ever wanted and hoped for in a first kiss, and it's made him crave more.

The kiss -- well, kisses, really; Blaine had kissed him twice in one sitting! -- has left him with such euphoria that it doesn't even faze him when Rachel tries to compares notes on Blaine's kissing technique at the next sleepover Mercedes and he have at Rachel's house. He merely gives her a "bitch, please" look and then shakes it off, going back to gushing about the kiss. He knows his face is practically glowing; it has been since the kiss. He's recounted the story so many times that Mercedes and Rachel must have it memorized by now, but Mercedes can't seem to get enough of it, and Kurt loves talking about it, so he's telling them about it once again.

"Has he kissed you again?" Mercedes finally asks after the eighty-fifth rendition of The Kiss. (Kurt's kept a mental tally of how many times he's told them the tale.)

Kurt hesitates a moment, his smile slipping a bit. "Well, no," he says slowly. "Not yet, but I'm sure he will soon. We're taking things slow."

He doesn't like the looks that Mercedes and Rachel trade, but they don't comment on it, and he quickly changes the subject to Lady Gaga's newest single.

It's been three weeks since The Kiss, and Kurt is starting to fret. Blaine's been holding his hand and opening up doors for him, paying for his coffee, all sorts of really romantic things, really. So, why hasn't he kissed Kurt again? There's been the occasional kiss on the cheek during breaks and study sessions, and he's even kissed Kurt tenderly on the lips when he bids Kurt good night before Kurt leaves to head back home, but there hasn't been another zinging, knock his socks off, steal his breath kiss like the two in the commons room. Kurt's wondering if he's done something to displease Blaine or make him feel those kisses were unwanted.

He finally can't stand it, and they're seated on his bed, watching a movie, when he blurts out "Why haven't you kissed me?"

GAH! *sits on hands for 2/2*

Blaine blinks and his eyebrows lift as he gives Kurt a confused look. "I have," he says. "Several times, in fact." He gives Kurt a small smile and reaches for his boyfriend's hand, only to have Kurt snatch his hand out of reach. Blaine is left with a bewildered expression on his face, and Kurt almost feels bad.

Almost.

"No, I mean, why haven't you kissed me like those first kisses, Blaine," Kurt says slowly, as though he's a mad scientist having to spell out his master plan to a dimwitted sidekick.

"Those first kisses?" Blaine says, dragging his tongue over his lips. "Kurt-"

"Those were amazing kisses, Blaine!" Kurt interrupts, his diva side taking over. "Those were kisses that every epic romance movie and bodice ripper novel and sappy love song talks about! Those were toe-curling kisses! They were epic, and I've been waiting for you to kiss like me that again, and you haven't. Why haven't you? Did I do something to make you not want to kiss me?" He takes a deep breath, aware that he sounds like a crazy person rambling the way that he is, and he looks embarrassed, trying to focus his attention on the tv screen. He's mortified; he wants to crawl into a dark hole and never come out again.

He can see Blaine watching him from the corner of his eye, but he's too afraid to look at his boyfriend, to see his reaction.

"Kurt," Blaine says gently, reaching out to take Kurt's hand. "Kurt, look at me. Please."

Kurt can't ignore the quiet plea, and he reluctantly turns his head, glancing at Blaine. He smiles softly as Blaine cups his cheek, and he leans into the touch.

"Kurt, of course I want to kiss you," Blaine says. "I thought you said you wanted to take things slow, so I backed off. I'm trying to be a gentleman."

"You can kiss me like that and still be a gentleman," Kurt says softly. "Even Cosette and Marius share a passionate kiss."

Blaine laughs and smiles. "You're adorable," he says. He kisses Kurt then, but it's still gentle and Kurt is slightly disappointed.

Blaine makes up for the disappointment though: three days later, Kurt is walking through the hallways, heading to his next class, when a hand suddenly shoots out of a doorway and yanks him into the room. Kurt just barely has enough time to register that it's an unoccupied classroom before Blaine's arms are wrapped around him, one snug around his waist and the other across his shoulder bladess.

The next thing he knows, he's being tipped back, Blaine's lips capturing his in a passionate, shoots-tingles-down-his-spine kiss that leaves Kurt breathless, his eyes rolling into the back of his head.

Now that is what he's talking about!

joe and nick kissing. on a bed. on a bunk. on a couch. maybe a 5 things about joe and nick kissing? maybe 5 places joe and nick kissed?

• Tour bus bunk: Fourteen year old Nick is used to Joe crawling into his bunk after lights out is called, so he automatically scoots closer to the wall when he hears the quiet rustle of his curtain being pushed back. He stops scooting when his back is against the wall, and he gives a sleepy smile as Joe curls up to him. He hears the curtain close, and he watches Joe through half-lidded eyes, just barely awake.

It's featherlight at first, the brush of Joe's lips across his, and Nick almost thinks that he imagined it. They've kissed before, affecionately, but this feels different somehow. Joe brushes his lips over Nick's again, a little more firmly this time, and Nick knows he didn't dream that. His eyes open, shooting a questioning glance at his brother, but he doesn't tell Joe to stop, which just encourages Joe to kiss him again, longer this time. It's kinda nice, and Nick makes a soft, contented noise in the back of his throat before falling back asleep.

• Bed: They're lying in bed in one of many hotel rooms in yet another city on their tour. The room is quiet, the soft rumble of the air conditioning unit white noise. Joe and Nick are lying on their sides, face-to-face, and Joe has lazily thrown his leg across Nick's thigh. His hand is snaking up Nick's back, fingers brushing over his brother's spine, and he loves the way that Nick shivers, a soft giggle escaping his lips.

Joe grazes his lips over Nick's neck, purposefully taking his time as he follows the line of Nick's jaw, sweeps the tip of his tongue across those lovely beauty marks on Nick's cheek. He avoids Nick's mouth, kissing everywhere else on his sweet brother's face until Nick's fingers are clutching at his back and Nick is begging him to kiss him in a trembling, needy voice.

Only then does Joe happily lean in and capture his brother's lips.

•Dressing room: It's so not the time for this, they're supposed to go onstage in less than six minutes, and Nick can already hear footsteps outside the dressing room door. He swears he hears their father call his name, but it's hard to think about anything except Joe's tongue, which is currently doing sinful things to the inside of Nick's mouth.

Nick's eyes roll up into the back of his head as he tries to muffle a groan, Joe's tongue sliding over his. Nick's fingers are curled tightly around Joe's shoulders, and Joe has him pressed back against the vanity table. Nick can feel the edge of it biting into the round cheeks of his butt, but he ignores it, clinging to Joe.

When they come up for air, they're both panting, their cheeks flushed and their eyes glazed, and Nick glances down at his watch. "Shoot, we're gonna be late if we don't go right now," he pants.

"I love it when you don't cuss," Joe mutters, already leaning in for another kiss, but Nick stops him with a hand on his chest.

"Easy, tiger," Nick says with a smirk. "Wait until after the show."

• Couch: Joe is lazily sprawled lengthwise across his couch in his brand new living room in his brand new bachelor pad, and Nick is straddling his lap. Nick's got his plaid shirt unbuttoned so Joe can admire his muscles and marvel at how much his little brother has grown. Joe reaches out, settling his hands on Nick's waist, and he rolls his hips a little, smirking when Nick's breath catches.

Nick is a little hesitant to do this here, especially with the view afforded by Joe's floor-to-ceiling windows -- anyone could see them, and he swears he sees the glint of sunlight off a camera lens or binoculars or something in one of the windows of the building next door.

"You're thinking too much." Joe pouts as he sits up slightly, his hand curling around the back of Nick's neck. He pulls his brother down, capturing his mouth in a passionate, searing kiss that makes Nick's entire body heat up. It's been way too long since they've last done this, and he never wants it to end.

• Mustang: They originally had a destination in mind when they got into Nick's car. They're in the parking garage, and Joe is captivated by the way Nick's bicep flexes when his brother reaches across Joe to get something from the glovebox. Joe has no idea what it is, he's too busy trying not to drool all over himself at the sight of his hot little brother in that Harley Davidson tank top that's got to be at least two sizes too small.

He must make some kind of noise because Nick turns his head as he leans back, object he'd been looking for in his hand. He smirks a little, peering at Joe over the tops of his aviator sunglasses, and Joe feels the lust smash into him like a ten-foot wave. He does make a noise this time, something along the lines of "Hnnnng" or "Unf" or some other embarrassingly incoherent sound, and he can't stop himself.

He leans across the middle console, fervently grabbing a hold of the back of Nick's neck and yanking him closer so their lips touch. He groans and licks into Nick's mouth when his brother's lips part in a surprised gasp, and then Nick is moaning as Joe's tongue sensually entwines with his. They shouldn't be doing this in the parking garage of all places -- somebody could easily walk by and see them -- but Joe is relentless, tongue and teeth and lips all working in unison to send hot lust zinging through Nick's body.

The gear stick is digging into Joe's thigh, which isn't half as annoying as when he shifts the wrong way and it hits him in the balls, effectively killing the steamy mood.

Shaving with a straight razor is a lost art, in Milo's opinion. Far too many men are too impatient to learn how to do it properly without nicking themselves, so they opt for the new-fangled electric razors and disposable kinds. Not Milo; well, not all the time. His grandfather taught him how to use a straight razor, and he likes to keep up the practice.

He can feel his lover's eyes on him as he stands at the counter in the bathroom. The lower half of his face is lathered up with shaving cream, and the sink is filled with lukewarm water. He wets the blade of the razor and then tilts his head up at just the right angle, eying his reflection in the mirror.

The only sound in the master bedroom and adjoining bathroom is the scrape of the blade over roughened stubble, and the quiet gasp of his lover. He's well aware of the fact that his lover finds watching him shave very attractive, so he takes his time, purposefully drawing out each motion in an effort to titillate and tease his lover.

He rinses his razor in the water and carefully runs the edge of the blade over his lip, getting the last of the stubble. When he's satisfied, he cleans the razor and sets it aside and then leans over the sink. Cupping the water, he splashes his face, washing away any leftover traces of shaving cream from his now-smooth skin. He pulls the plug on the sink, letting the water swirl away down the drain, and he grabs a towel, patting his face dry.
