The Duke of Norfolk has recently died, leaving behind his son, Joseph, to carry on in his footsteps. After being appointed the Duke of Norfolk by the Prince Regent George IV, Joseph discovers a letter from his late father, revealing the existence of a bastard child conceived with a chambermaid. The letter implores Joseph to find the boy and give him the inheritance that had been set aside for him.
Joseph refuses at first, angry that his father would cheat on his mother and then conceal such a secret for so many years. It isn't until the family lawyer informs Joseph that he will not receive his own inheritance until the bastard child has his that the headstrong Duke changes his mind.
One thing Joseph isn't counting on when he tracks down his illegitimate half-brother is that a handsome young man, albeit a little rough on the edges, lurks beneath the grime and filth of street life. He makes a proposition -- he'll help Nicholas become a fine gentleman of society in return for sexual favors.
Just as he didn't count on the filth and grime washing away to reveal such a pretty face, he doesn't foresee his heart being stolen by the whore from Wapping.
