Des grins and accepts the present, peeking at the tag poking out from underneath the ribbon. "Huh, it says it's for Jackson Molloy, from Santa." He lifts his eyebrows, looking quite intrigued. "I wonder what it could be."
Jack rolls his eyes and reaches out to take the present. "Oh, whatever, you guys know that it's from you," he says. "Honestly, dudes, I haven't thought Santa was real since I was six." He has to fight his dad for the present, tugging on it as Des refuses to let go, and finally, Jack manages to pry it from his dad's fingers. He eagerly tears into the package, blinking when he sees what he assumes to be a box that would typically hold jewelry.
He eases his father and uncle warily and then takes off the lid, looking a bit disappointed when he sees a keychain with a racing pony charm. "A keychain?" he says, not wanting to sound ungrateful. "Dad, I've already got a keychain..." He keeps his apartment key on it.
Des smirks a little and shrugs casually. "Why don't you pull it out of the box and let us see it, kiddo?" he suggests, and Jack does roll his eyes.
"Fine," he grumbles as he picks the keychain up and pulls it out of the box. The little piece of cotton falls out of the box, and it's only when he has the keychain dangling in the air that he notices the key attached to the other end of the metal ring. His eyes get impossibly large, and he stares at the key in stunned silence. After a few moments and a couple of rapid blinks, he stares at his uncle and father. "Is that...?"
"Why don't you go downstairs and check my parking spot and see for yourself?" Des says, and he's never seen Jack move so fast in his life. The kid is up and across the room, grabbing his jacket and throwing it on before Des is even finished with his sentence. Des laughs and motions for Jude to follow his nephew, and the twins collect their coats and head downstairs.
By the time they reach the parking garage, they can hear Jack's whoops and joyous cries echoing off the walls as the teenager dances around the back end of his used Mustang GT. "Oh my god!" he exclaims, practically flinging himself at his father and then his uncle. Both men get exuberant kisses to the cheeks and then Jack is back to bouncing around. "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, I can't wait to show Dana!"
Jude chuckles, watching his nephew dance around, and he glances at Des. "I think he likes it."
Des snickers and shakes his head. "Nah, he hates it. Worst gift ever."
